Po3 US NAVY VIETNAMJerry Lee Schmidt passed away September 3, 2011, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 58. He was born April 18, 1953 in Stidham, OK to Emma Jean Day. Jerry graduated from Solen High School in Solen, North Dakota in 1971. He attended Bismarck Junior college for a while before he was drafted into the US Navy during Vietnam. After an honorable discharge, Jerry worked as a chef in several 5-star restaurants in Minneapolis. He worked at the Aliveness Project Center for Living as the food services director and did volunteer services for blood donations at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis before moving to Oklahoma. Jerry is preceded in death by his mother; grandparents, Edna and Raymond Day; and his uncles, John, Clyde, Larry, Melvin and Elbert Leon Day. He is survived by his sister, Tammy Acuff of Warner; brothers, Mike and Donnie Schmidt, both of Bismarck, N. Dakota; nieces, Lacy Villines and Rachel Chesser, both of Keefeton, Abby Schmidt of Rapid City, S. Dakota, Alesha Schmidt of Bismark N. Dakota; nephews, Reuben and Donovan Schmidt, both of Bismark N. Dakota; great nephews, Beau Villines, Braden Chesser and Cole Chesser of Keefeton; uncles Joe Day, Debs Day and Bill Day; aunts, Ann Pond, Kay Gilbert and Sue Smith; as well as many other relatives, friends and loved ones. Memorial services for Jerry will be 10:00 am Friday, September 16, 2011, at Checotah Funeral Service Chapel with Mr. Everett Dunn officiating. Services were entrusted to Checotah Funeral & Cremation service.
