Heart Failure - News reached here late Wednesday evening that Dr. Joe Lawrence had dropped dead in the bank at Hyden. The sad news came as a great shock to his family and friends, who were the least suspecting such a thing. His brother, Dr. G.B. Lawrence, left on the night train Wednesday night, via of London, but as the closest railroad point is about 65 miles and the terrible condition of the roads over which they would have to travel, it is not known yet whether his remains will be brought back to this county, his old home for burial or not. Dr. Lawrence reached Hyden sometime last night and communication will be had with him this morning over the telephone, when it will be known what they will do.

Level Green - The news of the sudden death of Dr. Joseph H. Lawrence, of Hyden, has cast a gloom over our whole community, for none knew "Joe" but to love and respect him. None knew him better than I, my relative, my neighbor and pupil, good, kind and obedient; but like all living must go, he has gone. Joe was a member of the Church of Christ at this place. He was born and reared near us.

The remains of Dr. Joe Lawrence and his infant baby, both buried in the cemetery at Hyden KY., were taken up and Monday re-interred in the family burying ground at the old home near Level Green. Dr. Lawrence has been dead two years and his baby seven.
