Sally Ann Barrs, 68, of Keene died peacefully May 16, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Keene Nov. 29, 1939, daughter of Louis A. and Bernice E. (McKernon) Fagnant. She attended school in Gardner, Mass., graduating from Gardner High School in 1957.

Mrs. Barrs had worked as an adult service coordinator at Monadnock Developmental Services in Keene for more than 20 years. She was a longtime advocate and supporter for the developmentally disabled and their families.
She earned great satisfaction and joy through the clients she supported, befriended and loved over the many years of her service to the Keene community.
She had a great love for her family, Maine, the seacoast, lighthouses and her cat.
Mrs. Barrs will be remembered by those that knew her as a woman of merit. She was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and client advocate.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki A. Yardley of Keene; her son, Timothy J. Barrs of Keene; her sister, Linda Knowles of Orleans, Mass.; her grandchildren, Jennifer L. Yardley and Kristen C. Yardley, and her “honorary granddaughter,” Stacey-Lynne Earley, all of Keene.
A committal service will held be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited.
There will be no calling hours. Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Keene is in charge of arrangements.
The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Mrs. Barrs’ memory to the Relay For Life Team MWS, or Team EPY for the American Cancer Society, in care of Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services, 312 Marlboro St., Keene 03431.
