Addison James Young known to all his friends and acquaintances as Addy, was born in Clark’s Grove, near Albert Lea on August 13, 1866 being 85 years, 7 months and 28 days years of age at the time of his pasting. He came to this community with his parents as a young boy and spent the greater part of his life in this community.

He was united in marriage with Mrs. Ella Paine at this place in 1897 and the young couple made their home in this community. Four children blessed their union, one of who, Walter preceded his father in death. Surviving to mourn his passing are two daughters, Miss Lucy Young of St. Paul and Mrs. Irvin Aldredge (Dorothy) of St. George Utah, and one son, Clifford Mason, of this community. His wife passed away at the birth of the his son, Clifford and he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mason, while Addy reared his two daughters alone.

Addy spent most of his life in this community and only left here in 1928 when he removed to St. Paul with his daughter, Miss Lucy where he had since made his home but was a frequent visitor to this and the Slayton community until failing health made the visits impossible.

He had been suffering from hear trouble for several years before his passing but did not seem other than normal until his sudden passing on Thursday, April 10, 1952, at St. Paul.

Funeral services were held at the Slayton First Presbyterian Church, internment was made in the Slayton cemetery immediately following the service.
