Elsie Mae Dayton was born September 5, 1895 in Cherokee County, Iowa to George and Ellen Hill Like. On April 17, 1929 she was married to Archie Dayton in Slayton, Minnesota. Following their marriage they farmed in the Slayton and Lake Wilson, Minnesota area. He retired in 1969 and they moved into Slayton. Mrs. Dayton was a member of the United Methodist Church of Slayton and belonged to the Willing Workers Society. Due to failing health she was hospitalized for four days at the Murray County Memorial Hospital, Slayton, Minnesota, passing away there on April 22, 1974 at the age of 78 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, her parents, six brothers and one sister.
