Last rites for Mrs. Melissa Cowan, 69, were set for 2:30 o'clock this afternoon (Thursday) at Burns Chapel, with the Rev. J. W. Burns officiating. Burial was in the Mellette cemetery.
Born September 20, 1878, in Illinois, Mrs. Cowan had been a resident of Mcintosh County for many years, and had made her home in Eufaula recently.
She died here Sunday after a brief illness.
She is survived by three sons, Alva and Homer Cowan, Eufaula and Herman Cowan, Henryetta; four daughters, Mrs. Mae Duke and Mrs. Jessie Norman of Eufaula, Mrs.. Julia Armstrong of California and Mrs. Maude Tilley of Texas; 35 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Kelley Funeral Home..
