Born in Williamstown, Aug. 25, 1927, he was a son of the late David and Mary Klinger Jenkins.
He was a beloved and loving husband, father and "Pap" to his grandsons.
A 1945 graduate of Williamstown High School, he was a recruit with the Marine Corps at Parris Island, S.C., when World War II ended.
In 1951 he was employed by the Philadelphia Transportation Co., which later became the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. As an equipment maintenance employee, he worked until August 1989, at which time he ran out the door into retirement. He worked briefly as a volunteer during the formative years of the Dayton Market, Williamstown, and then he ran even more quickly into retirement never to look back.
He was a physical fitness enthusiast who enjoyed long walks and light weight lifting. In his earlier days, he established himself as a pool shooter and poker player.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Marie Taylor Jenkins.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna I. Jenkins, Williamstown; a son, David R. Jenkins, (Eileen), Woodbury, N.J.; two grandsons, Gregory and Richard Jenkins, Woodbury; brothers, Edward Jenkins (Harriet), Norwich, N.Y., and Joseph Jenkins (Marlene), Williamstown; an aunt, Phyllis Davis, Willingboro, N.J.; and his beloved cat, Slick Mary.
A memorial service will be held at an undetermined date in April 2017.
