Anthony J. Chandler of Waimea passed away on Feb. 2, 2017, at Kauai Care Center at the age of 88. He was born on March 30, 1928, in Wainiha. He was a HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) mechanic for Bendix at NASA Hawaii Tracking Station and known as the local A/C and appliance mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his father William Chandler, mother Roselina Chandler, sisters Angeline (William) Texeira, Elizabeth (Raymond) Awana, Roseline (Ipo) Andrade, Agnes Chandler, Lucy (Leonard) Espinueva, and Mary (Albert) Silva; brothers Silas (Ivy) Chandler, William (Julia) Chandler, John (Alice) Chandler, Francis (Elizabeth) Chandler, Leo (Isabella) Chandler, Michael (Merrilee) Chandler and grandson Shendon "Matt" Taniguchi.
He is also survived by his brother Thomas "Kaipo" (Kit) Chandler; wife Juanita Chandler; daughters Catherine, Susan (Damien), Leona (Ash), Michelle, Jannai, Chanel (Tony) Chandler; sons Anthony Jr. (Susan), Aaron (Connie), Anson, Alton (Joycelynn) Chandler; grandchildren Toni, Summer, Leinani, Oniki Malina, Troy, Sanoe Chandler, Sheldon Taniguchi, Haku Barriga, Kanoe, Kana'i Carveiro, Kaina Dusenberry, Kala'e Holt, A'alona, Pomai, Alaka'i Chandler, Adam Chandler, Jayden Chandler-Harper, Joshua Lazaro, Hi'ilei, Napua Chandler and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Waimea Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church with visitation at 8 a.m. and Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place after Mass at the Hanapepe Public Cemetery followed by a celebration of life at Waimea Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church.
The family suggests aloha attire and welcomes flowers and lei.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary, Koloa.
