He lived in Manteca 24 years. He retired in 1989 after working for 17 years as a homicide detective with the Manteca Police Department; he was a police officer for a total of 26 years. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Jabs of Manteca; children, Kristin Jabs of Ripon, Donna Peterson of Montana, Robert Jabs Jr. of Pennsylvania and Tony Jabs of Fullerton; and seven grandchildren.
