Mary Catherine Grabenstein, 66, of Fort Ashby, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 1995, at her residence. Born March 17, 1929, in Garrett County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Howard Richard and Corella (Weimer) Platter. Mrs. Grabenstein was a cook for juvenile services for the state of Maryland, and a former chef at Frostburg State University. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Fort Ashby. Surviving are her husband, Joseph T. Grabenstein; three sons, Frank C. McKenzie and wife Debbie, Burlington, W.Va., Kenneth J. and Debbie Grabenstein, Fort Ashby, and Michael D. Grabenstein and wife Michelle, Cumberland; two daughters, Marteni M. Steele and friend Bob Mayo, Smithsburg, Md., and Sherri L. Weasenforth and husband Tally, Maysville, W.Va.; two brothers, William V. Platter, and Howard R. Platter and wife Sylvia, all of Frostburg, Md.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland, where a Christian Wake Service will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Annunciation on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. D. Kent Durig officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Ashby Cemetery.
