Mrs. Murphy, who now lives in Smyrna, Ga., and her brothers, Gerald Benefield of Dothan and Dr. Jim Benefield of Montgomery, and their families have donated 7 stained glass windows to Green's Chapel United Methodist in honor of their father, Keever Benefield of Traylor Nursing Home in Roanoke, and in memory of their mother, the late Marvolene Tomlinson Benefield.
Mr. and Mrs. Benefield were active members of Green's Chapel for the 66 years of their marriage, while Mr. Benefield had been a member throughout his youth. He spent his working years as bridge engineer for the Randolph County Highway Department. The Benefield family lived just down the road, a few miles east of Wedowee. The picturesque white frame church has a cemetery across the road and a pavilion for dinner on the grounds on the second Sunday in May.
