Carolyn Sue Stout, 71, of Butler, went home to be with her Lord, on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at her home. She was a daughter of the late James Paco and Mary Sheets Smith and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Kay Hardin and Norma Davenport and two brothers, Thomas Smith and James Leonard Smith.

Mrs. Stout was retired from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center where she worked as a registered nurse. She loved gardening and flowers and was of the Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Patricia Poole, Butler; a son, Steve Poole and his wife, Trina, Butler; a granddaughter, Natosha Tolley and her husband, Steven, Elizabethton; and special friends, Joann and Ebb Cable. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service for Mrs. Stout will be conducted on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Lakeview Cemetery with Rev. R.L. Poole officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet the family at the cemetery at 12:45 on Sunday.
