James Edward (Ed) Wilkerson went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 9, 2017.

He was born to James I. (Jim) Wilkerson and Annie Chamblee Wilkerson on April 16, 1922 at Route 1, Hensley, Arkansas on Spring Lake Road.

He was a veteran of World War II, having enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1942, serving three years as an aviation radio operator with the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class.

He was retired from Wilkerson’s Mid State Tractor Company.

In early 1943, he was introduced to Myrlene Helms and they were married September 20, 1944 at First Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. They were married for 65 years. Ed and Myrlene were members of Calvary Baptist Church on Lynch Drive in North Little Rock for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrlene Helms Wilkerson, his parents, four brothers, Cecil, Houston, Henry and Fred, and four sisters, Katie, Lillie, Mary and Mildred.

He is survived by his daughter, Renee and her husband, John Robert (Bob) Stephens and his son, James E. (Eddie) and his wife, Cindy Wilkerson, both of North Little Rock. Three wonderful grandsons, Robert Michael and wife, Stephanie Stephens of Springdale, Jonathan Kyle and wife, Brandy Stephens of Jonesboro and Dr. James E. (Edward) and wife, Dr. Robyn Wilkerson of Little Rock; three great-grandchildren, Claire Wilkerson, Chloe Krumwiede and Christopher Krumwiede; and a host of nieces and nephews who were very special to him.

Services will be Monday, February 13 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Robert McDaniel.

Interment at Salem Cemetery in East End.
