Elaine was born March 25, 1920 in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Virgin Islands, to Leonard McIntosh and Ilva Louise Crooke. She married Frank Hughes on Jan. 25, 1947 in New York City, N.Y., and they remained married until his death in 1992. She was a loyal parishioner and volunteer at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Browns Mills for over 50 years, and a longtime volunteer at the VFW and the DAV.
Survivors include four sisters: Ilva Louise Gloeckler (McIntosh) of Sunnyside, N.Y., Doris Lindquist (McIntosh) of St. Thomas Virgin Islands, Alice Irene Thomas (McIntosh) of Traverse City, Mich., and Sybil Pearson (McIntosh) of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; two brothers: William McIntosh of Whitby, Ontario, Canada, and Arthur McIntosh of Columbia, Mo.; and 15 nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 22 Trenton Rd., Browns Mills, NJ 08015, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Burial will be held at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ann's Catholic Church at the address above.
