Nellie Jean Hicks Martin , age 83, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga,
A native and resident of McMinn County most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Leevon and Pearl West Hicks and was preceded in death by her husband, Arlen Ted Martin on July 16, 2004 ; grandson Joey Martin ;two sisters, Helen Hicks Malone and Cecile Hicks Dickinson; and a brother, David ( B.O .) Hicks .
Survivors include two daughters, Pam and husband Butch Smith of Indiana and Gina Sullivan and friend Mike Gable of Athens; four sons and two daughters-in - law , Ted Martin, Jr. , of Athens, Roy and Janet Martin of Athens, Todd and Elizabeth Martin of Indiana and Lindsey Martin of Athens; three sisters and brothers- in - law , Marie and Roy Anderson of Athens, Sallie and David Rogers of Cleveland, and Brenda and Tommy Patton of Athens; one brother and two sisters-in- law , Bud and Sue Hicks of Athens, and Pat Hicks of Knoxville; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews .
Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Saturday , February 11, 2017 in the chapel of Laycock - Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Hicks officiating.
Graveside services will be 9:00 A. M. Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Sunrise Cemetery in Englewood, TN . Pallbearers are ; grandsons, Jared Martin, Kyle Martin; nephews, Tim Hicks, Michael Rogers , Tom Patton and Phillip Patton .
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Saturday, February 11,2017 at the funeral home prior to the funeral service .
