Fred Henry Lentz, Jr. 79 of Cornelius went to be with Jesus on February 8, 2017 at his home. He was born on September 24, 1937 in Asheville, NC to the late Fred and Grace Lentz. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian for 47 years where he served as a deacon, elder and member of the Agape Sunday School Class. He played basketball for the University of S.C. and was in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was self-employed. He was a member of the Queen City Corvette Club for many years.
Survivors include his wife Caroline Hammond Lentz; sons, John (wife Barbara) and Dean (wife Rachell); grandchildren, Bradley, Kendall and Drew; sister, Helen; nephew, Stephen (wife Kathy); and niece Elizabeth (husband Jeff).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethel Church Foundation, 19920 Bethel Church Rd. Cornelius, NC 28031.
A memorial service will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church on Monday, February 13 at 1:00 with Rev. Mark Moss and Rev. Vern Dodd officiating. Visitation will follow. Burial will be private in the church cemetery.
