Debbie Riggs age 60 a resident of Cleveland passed away Saturday February 4, 2017 at the family residence.

She was born September 17, 1956 in Frankfurt Germany to the late Benjamin and Emma Riggs.

Besides her parents Debbie was also preceded in death by her brother Benji Riggs.

Debbie dedicated her life to helping others by volunteering at various organizations in the area including Cleveland Community Hospital, RAM Clinic, Good Samaritan Medical Clinic and the Cleveland Library. She was an active member of the Bradley County Historical and Genealogical Society. She researched and wrote The Day Cleveland Cried: A History of the Monuments. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Confederacy and was a longtime member of the Bradley County Democratic Party.

Debbie was a member of Waterville Baptist Church for over 39 years where she was involved with many ministries: Preschool Sunday School Teacher, Youth Sunday School teacher and leader, Church office volunteer, Caring Compassion and outreach volunteer, BBA disaster relief team, Ocoee Outreach, Sound Board Operator, CD Ministry and Young at Heart. She graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1975.
She is survived by many cousins and friends.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Friday at 2 o’clock at Waterville Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Brooks and Rev. Coby Goins officiating. The interment will follow in the Hilcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 until 2pm at the church.
