Zachariah Crane Owens was the son of William James Owens (1763) and Elizabeth Crane (1785-1850), and grandson of Zachariah Owens Sr. (1732-1789) and his wife Lucretia Davis (1730-1825. His known siblings were Dorcas, Elizabeh, Biannthia Annie, James, and Hopsa Owens. Zachariah Crane Owens was married to Leah Sawyer, about 1838, and their known children were Griffin, Keziah Ann, Rachel, William James R., Susan Ann Elizabeth, Hopsie, Rhoda, Richard S., and Henry William Owens. Zachariah Crane Owens later married Margaret.
