He was born on June 11, 1943 in Duplin County and was the son of the late Carl and Carrie Mae Daughtrey Wheeler. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Ruth, Frances, Ricky and James Earl.
Surviving to cherish his memory is wife of 51 years, Sandra Smith Wheeler; his sons, Michael Glenn Wheeler of Magnolia and Danny Ray Wheeler of Harrells; grandsons, Drew Wheeler and Joseph Glenn Wheeler; great granddaughter, Kenley Grace Wheeler; brothers, Bobby Ray Wheeler of Wallace and Charles Wheeler of Rose Hill; sisters, Christine Jones of Rose Hill and Debbie Sheffield also of Rose Hill and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Jimmy was a devoted husband and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. He had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Jimmy enjoyed gardening and watching things grow. He was a hard worker and always looked after his wife and boys. Jimmy will surely be missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Sammy Shepard officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha.
