Obituary for Floyd Lindon Sanders

Floyd Lindon Sanders was born Nov. 18, 1934, in Cromwell, Okla., to Jesse and Ruth Sanders. He attended school for 12 years at Excelsior School, a rural school in Seminole County.

After graduating high school, he attended Okmulgee Vocational and Technical School and learned the newspaper printing business. After learning the printing trade he worked at the Sulphur newspaper, then at the Wewoka Times before coming to El Reno in 1960. He worked for the Tribune for 40 years.

In 1955 he married Bertha Jean Williams in Wewoka. They have two daughters, Cyndy Burris and Peggy Haynes.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church until later in life when his health prevented him from attending. He was a deacon and served on numerous committees including the Falls Creek and nominating committee. He taught junior high boys Sunday School for many years.
Floyd was an active hunter and fisherman. He loved to do carpenter work and make small wooden pieces that he delighted in giving away to friends and family. He spent many hours behind the wheel of the boat when his daughters were learning how to water ski.
