Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Craig Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
Born August 13, 1922 in Randolph County, Mrs. Hayes was the daughter of the late Fred and Thelma Allen Tedder. She was a 1939 graduate of Seagrove High School. Mrs. Hayes attended Memorial United Methodist Church in Kannapolis. She enjoyed crocheting and crafting. Mrs. Hayes was featured in the Salisbury Post for crocheting toboggans for Samartians Purse, she lovingly crocheted and donated thousands of toboggans over the years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Elvin Hayes; and brothers, Raymond, Paul and Resal.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Hayes Woodard and husband, Ken of Kannapolis; sons, Jim Elvin Hayes and wife, Hilda of Rock Hill, SC, Lowell T. Hayes and wife, Brenda of Waldorf, MD; sister, Lucy Tedder Rice and husband, Floyd of Asheboro; brother, Randy Lee Tedder and wife, Karan of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Ridge Funeral Home, prior to the service.
