Leroy served in the US Army, and retired from Amtrak after 40 years of service. He was an avid karaoke singer and enjoyed singing country and gospel music. His proudest moment in life was when he learned to farm and fish in Georgia. He also loved animals, especially his dogs Bart, Blackie, Angel, and the Georgia Bulldogs. His favorite color was yellow.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11 from 11:00am-12:45pm at Miles-Odum Funeral Home in Waycross, GA at 130 Screven Avenue. Funeral service will begin at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Beulah Baptist Cemetery at 3343 Beulah Church Road, Alma, GA 31510.
Additionally, a Celebration of Leroy’s Life will be held on Saturday, February 18 from 6:00-8:00pm at Winter Park Church, 1721 Harmon Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789. All who wish to attend are welcome.
Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Leroy Thrift to Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, FL.
