Elizabeth Jean Snodgrass, widow of John E. Snodgrass, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at the age of 83. After a long illness, she died peacefully in her sleep at her ranch near Coarsegold.

Mother was born in Dallas, Texas.

John and Jean met in 1944 at the U.S. Army Air Corps Base in Midland, Texas and married the same year.

After the war ended they moved to the Central Valley where they raised six children on their farm on North Chestnut in Clovis.

Mother was a homemaker for the 61 years of their marriage during which time she learned the multiple responsibilities of a farm wife. In addition to the home and farm, mother was dad's behind-the-scenes partner in their successful contracting business, devoting many hours to their business working in their home office.

She took a leading role in community activities serving as PTA president at both the Dry Creek Elementary School and at Clovis High School. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and served as the chief inspector for the local election board.

Mother was an avid antique collector donating part of her extensive collection of tea tiles and other treasures to the Clovis Big Dry Creek Historical Society. She and daddy enjoyed many trips around the country in either their airplane, which Dad piloted, or in their RV. She also enjoyed reading and doing needle work, creating many fond memories for her children and grandchildren.

Mother taught us the meaning of hospitality and kindness. She was a gentle soul whose deep Christian faith served as a role model for her children. Mother, we love you and will miss you every day. Thank you for the lessons taught and the life you lived for your family.

She is survived by her six children, Carol Zielins and her husband Don of Coarsegold, Betty Harner and her husband M. Charles of Redding, California, Jacquelyn Jones of Coarsegold, Katherine Davis of Clovis, Neil Snodgrass and his wife Kathryn of Clovis, and Charles Snodgrass and his wife Sunni of Sanger.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home on Monday, January 22, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

A Graveside Service will be held at Clovis Cemetery on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at 11:00 a.m.
