Denny passed away at the Veteran's Hospital in Fresno.
Denny was born in Fresno to Doretta and Dennis Hallowell, Sr. and raised in Clovis where he graduated from high school in 1939. He attended Fresno State College prior to service in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Following military service he attended University California, Berkeley majoring in entomology.
During his career as a chemist for Richfield Oil in Southern California, he received several patents for various lubricants and later did oil reclamation work for an affiliate of Union Pacific Railroad in Utah.
Denny was a man of caring and generous nature.
Denny is survived by two sons and a daughter, Scott Hallowell of Portland, Oregon, Rudy Hallowell, formerly of Orem, Utah, and Janice Moffet of Chandler, Arizona; his brother, James Hallowell and his wife Coke of Friant; and his sister, Jane DuBois and her husband Ron of Fresno.
There will be a private burial at the Clovis Cemetery.
