Sheila A. Green, 73, formerly of Mauch Chunk Road, Palmerton, died Saturday evening, Feb. 4, in the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mahoning Township.
She was the food service manager for the Blue Mountain Ski Area, Palmerton, for 29 years before retiring in 1995.
Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Hilbert C. Green and Anna L. (Hartman) Halada.
She was a member and former council member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bowmanstown, and a former member and officer of the Bowmanstown Rod and Gun Club.
The children and family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Mahoning Valley Nursing Home for their care and concern of her.
Surviving are a daughter Sharon, wife of Blaise Anzalone in California; three sons, Robert Merkel Jr., and his wife, Sheryl, of Forest Inn, Dennis W. Merkel, and his wife, Penny, of Towamensing Township, and Matthew C. Merkel of Palmerton, four grandchildren, Jason, Robert III, Trese and Nicholas; a great-granddaughter Alexis; three sisters, Teresa Trudich of Coaldale, Pamela, wife of William Gothard of Forest Inn, and Kelly, wife of Roger Holtzer of Lehighton; a sister-in-law, Wendy Green of Lehighton; three brothers, Guy Green, and his wife, Brenda, of Lehighton, Peter Halada, and his wife, Jill, of Palmerton, and Tom Shellhammer, and his wife, Betty, of Long Pond; and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Hilbert Green.
Service: Graveside service 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, Towamensing Cemetery, Third St. and Fireline Rd., Palmerton, with the Rev. Denton R. Kees officiating.
