Rebecca 'Becky' Watson Stubblefield, age 93, passed from this life on February 5, 2017. She was born on July 27, 1923 to the late Dr. Jerre Watson and Myrtle Garrett Watson of Anniston, Alabama. She was a graduate of David Lipscomb College in 1942. Becky was married to Herman H. Stubblefield on October 6, 1944. They moved to the Birmingham area in 1973 from Maryville, Tennessee and lived in Bluff Park since 1980.
Mrs. Stubblefield employment ranged from medical technician in the 50's, bookkeeper in the 60's and secretary for Homewood Church of Christ from 1974 until 1987. She was a member of Birmingham Territory Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was the chapter Regent from 1989 to 1991. She also served in other offices there and at the State level.
Mrs. Stubblefield lifelong hobby was knitting, she won numerous ribbons at the Tennessee State Fair in the 1960's and knitted many booties for premature babies. After her retirement she made many trips with Herman all over the country, Canada and Alaska.
Mrs. Stubblefield was also preceded in death by one sister, three brothers and an adopted daughter Vera Tieman. She is survived by her beloved husband of 72 years,
Herman H Stubblefield, her daughters, Anne Napier and Tonye Stubblefield; her son,
Locksley Stubblefield and his wife Ellen;
her grandsons - Landon Stubblefield, Madison Stubblefield and Brett Napier; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be at Homewood Church of Christ in Homewood, Alabama on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, February 10, 2017 in Viola Cemetery in Warren County, Tennessee, with family members to officiate. There will be no visitation at High's.
