Minnie Marie Hunter, 80, of Jacksonville, and formerly of Waverly, died Sunday evening, Feb. 5, 2017, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 29, 1937, in Morgan County to the late Floyd Monroe Crow & Sarah Ann Long Crow. She was adopted and raised by George and Doris Dodge Hubbell.
She married Albert Lemmons on 18 Oct 1959, they divorced July 1966. She later married Archie Hunter on 11 Feb 1967 in Jacksonville, IL, and he survives.
Also surviving are 5 children: Archie Jr., Sally, John, Rebecca, and Melinda; along with nine grandchildren, Katrisha, Kendell, Austin, Keaton, William, Alexander, Alicia, Hanah, and Haylee; six great-grandchildren, all living in Illinois; and one brother, James (Maxine) Crow of Pittsfield.
She was preceded in death by all her parents; a daughter Nanette; one granddaughter, Hollie; one great-granddaughter, Karter; two sisters, Louise Ham and Frances Ballard; and two brothers, Richard Crow and Robert Warren.
Marie volunteered many years for Boy Scouts of America working as troop leder for all three of her girls as well as leader for three of her granddaughters. She was also cookie chairman for the local Girl Scout council for many years.
She was involved with Little People of America from 1975 through the present and served as Little Prairie Chapter president from 2004 through 2010.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will be at Waverly East Cemetery.
She will be buried beside her adoptive parents, George Anderson Hubbell & Doris Dodge Hubbell in Waverly East Cemetery on Saturday, February 11, 2017.
