Leonard Abbatantuono, 89, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1971 and formerly of the Bronx, died on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at the New York State Veterans Home at Montrose.
Born on November 15, 1919 in Italy, he served in the US Air Force during World War II. He was employed as a Manager for Phelps Dodge in Yonkers and was a parishioner of Blessed Kateri Church in LaGrangeville.
On May 17, 1942 in the Bronx, Leonard married Theresa Gulla who predeceased him on January 14, 1999. He is survived by his son, Leonard Abbatantuono and his wife, Phyllis of Wappingers Falls; his daughter, Kelly Brown and her husband, Frank of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Jason Abbatantuono and his wife, Lauren, Joseph Abbatantuono and his wife, Laura, Christopher Brown, Lindsay Brown and Michael Higgins; and his great-grandchildren, Emily, Nicholas and Maya Jane.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
