Dr. John L. Wilson Dr. John L. Wilson, 85, a former senior vice president of research and development and director of Economics Laboratory, died Thursday in St. Paul.

Wilson, who graduated from Jamestown (N.D,) College, was president emeritus and chairman of its board. He also held advanced degrees from the Universities of Minnesota, Michigan and Oregon. A nationally renowned chemist, he was awarded the first medal for distinguished service by the Minnesota Industrial Chemists' Forum.

Survivors include his wife, Palma, and a sister, M. Josephine Wilson, Ashmore, III.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Andrew-Riverside Church, 729 S.E. First Minneapolis.

Memorial service scheduled JAMESTOWN (AP) A memorial service was to be held in Jamestown Thursday for Dr. John L. Wilson, president emeritus and chairman of the board of directors of Jamestown College.

Wilson, 85, of St. Paul, died last week in St. Paul, where funeral services were held Tuesday. Wilson was one of a small group of Jamestown College alumni to have earned both a B.A. and a B.S. degree from the college. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1920, a Bachelor of Science in 1925 and was presented an honorary Doctor of Science degree in 1954.

During the academic year 1968-69, Wilson served as acting president of Jamestown College. In 1957 he had been chosen to serve as a member of the college board of trustees, and in 1961 was named chairman of the academic committee of the board. He had served as chairman of the board of trustees since 1967. In the late 1960s Wilson was named as Outstanding Citizen of Jamestown. The Wilson Hockey Arena on the college campus is named in his honor.
