"Steve M. Griffin, 89, of Coleman, died Monday, February 6, 2017 at his residence. Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Burkett Cemetery Pavilion in Burkett with Rev. Dick Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the in the Burkett Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

"He was born Steve Marion Griffin January 16, 1928 in McCaulley to Henry Lee Griffin and Elma Lee Alexander Griffin. He grew in Hamlin and attended school there. Mr. Griffin served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On July 10, 1955, he married Elizabeth “Bettie” Dillard in Gladewater. Mr. Griffin worked as an Electronic Technician for Phillips Petroleum in Borger. He retired in 1984 and moved to his ranch in Coleman County that he had purchased in 1966. He enjoyed overseeing his cattle and living at his ranch.

"Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Griffin of Coleman; one son, Michael Griffin of San Antonio; one daughter, Lou Kaszynski; one sister, Lenora Preston of McClain; three grandchildren, Kelly Kaszynski, Kyle Kaszynski and Cody Kaszynski.

"He was preceded in death by two sisters, Odessa Middleton and Delores Williams.

"Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.

"Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Griffin may be made to the charity of your choice."
