Beverly J. Bowers, 77 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at St. Elizabeth Regional Hospital in Lincoln Saturday afternoon, February 4, 2017. She was born on June 19, 1939 at Minden, NE to Harold and Irene (Koch) Nielsen, and was a 1957 graduate of Minden High School. Beverly and Jim Bowers were married on December 19, 1959 in Minden, and moved to Beatrice from Seward in 1968. She had been employed as a dental assistant at Gleason Dental Clinic in Beatrice for 47 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; helped establish the Blue Valley Shrine Widows group, and attended many Shrine activities with her husband Jim. Beverly enjoyed scrap booking, knitting, cooking, traveling, and playing bridge. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she collected Precious Moment figurines.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Lori Leary and husband Todd of Lincoln, and Nancy Bowers of San Antonio, TX; 2 grandchildren Michael and Paige Leary; 2 sisters LaDonna Kimle of Kennesaw, NE, and Darlene Case of Beatrice; sisters in law Cindy Hildebrand and husband Les, Stella Bowers, all of Colorado Springs, and Claudia Bowers of Seward; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Irene (Koch) Nielsen; and husband Jim Bowers (2012).

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend John Duling officiating. Private family inurnment of her ashes will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. There will be no viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Beatrice Senior Center and the Blue Valley Shrine Widows Group with the funeral home in charge.
