Ashland, June 13,- Mrs. Rebecca W. Mitchell, 80 years old, an old resident of this place, died at her home here at 7:30 o'clock this morning. She is survived by four children, C. C. Mitchell of Springfield, A. J. Mitchell of Woodside and W. J. and Anna Mitchell of Ashland.
Mrs. Mitchell was the daughter of William Crow. She was born in Sangamon county June 9, 1821, and is said to have been the first white child born in that county. In 1844 she was untied in marriage with W. A. Mitchell, who died several years ago. Eight children resulted from this union, four of whom have died.
The funeral will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at the Christian church, Rev. Mr. Good of St. Joseph, Mo., an old family friend of the family, will conduct the services. Interment will be made in the Ashland cemetery.
