Roy C. Stephens, 91, of Haw River, died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Durham.

A native of Alamance County, Mr. Stephens was the husband of the late Molly Ann Morgan Stephens and the son of the late Cicero Stephens and the late Alice King Stephens.

Mr. Stephens was a retired truck driver and a member of the VFW and loved helping people by playing music for them to listen to.

Mr. Stephens is survived by two sons, Reid Stephens of Burlington and Alan Stephens and his wife, Cynthia, of Haw River; five grandchildren, Ian Stephens, Leah Stephens, Melissa Starnes, Brandy Stephens and Brad Stephens; two great-grandchildren, Kiara Van Hook and Mycai Brooks.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by a daughter, Karla Leah Stephens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from noon until 1:00 pm at Lambs Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 in the church. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the staff of the VA Hospital and their neighbors for the wonderful support and care given to them and Roy during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Veteran’s Administration or to the VFW Post 2972 (W.D. Hammer Post), 432 Boonwood Dr., Gibsonville, N.C., 27249.
