Marvin Meyer, 93, of Stirum, ND, passed away February 4, 2017, at the Four Seasons Healthcare Center in Forman.

Marvin Eugene, son of Fred and Rose (Wilke) Meyer was born November 9, 1923 on the family farm near Stirum, ND, where he grew up and attended rural school. He farmed with his father on the family farm until 1947, when he went to work in Lake Crystal, MN driving truck with his brother-in-law and also building government bins. In 1950 he married Marjorie Bruns, and they were blessed with a son, Dorne. They moved to Fargo, ND, where Marvin worked as a carpenter, before returning back to the Stirum area to farm. Marjorie passed away in 1984.

On December 6, 1986, he married Iris Stabnow Kadoun. Marvin and Iris remained on the farm. After retiring in 2000, they spent the winter months in Arizona and Texas until health issues prevented them from going. In 2015 they moved to Gwinner, where they lived until August of 2016, when they moved to the Four Seasons Villa Assisted Living in Forman.
Marvin was an active member and trustee of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Stirum for many years. He enjoyed fishing and traveling with his wife Iris. He will be remembered by his family for his great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife Iris; son, Dorne Meyer; four step-children, Donald Kadoun, Lois Huffman, Diane (Mark) Pierson, and Robert (Nancy) Kadoun; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marjorie, one brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Gwinner. His funeral will be on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. also at Zion Lutheran Church, with lunch to follow. Burial will be at the Stirum Cemetery.
