Esther Griffith Hudson, 90, of Monessen, formerly of Allenport and Charleroi, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Southwestern Nursing Center. She was born in Monessen on Jan. 28, 1920, the daughter of the late Karl and Mary Troth. Esther was Lutheran by faith. She was blessed with an incredible sense of humor and loved playing the piano throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee E. Griffith; brothers Karl, Edward, Alfred, Andrew, Kenneth, Walter and Julius Troth; sisters Tillie Schilling, Ceil Mamayek and Louise Thompson. Surviving are her two sons, Thomas Griffith, of Dell Rose, Tenn., and Ronald Griffith, of Monessen; four daughters, Sandra Anden, of Boynton Beach, Fla., Carole Brzostowski, of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., Kathleen Cooper, of Sugar Hill, Ga., and Eileen Hudson Hruby, of Belle Vernon; 13 grandchildren, Margo Anden Freeman, of Orlando, Fla., Christy Noris, of Lincroft, N.J., Amy Clayton, of Wall Township, N.J., Leslie Boldt, of Lebanon, Tenn., Tricia Glass, of Houston, Thomas Griffith II, of Houston, Terra Sullivan of Mesa, Ariz., Ron Griffith Jr., of Monessen, Dustin Griffith of Tampa, Fla., Robert Heckman, of Connellsville, Rachel Heckman, of Las Vegas, William and Christopher Hruby, both of Belle Vernon; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Simkanich, of Monessen, and Mildred Gibson, of Baldwin; and one brother, Arnold Troth, of Red Wing, Minn. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Jack Hernstrom officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
