Eva Ross, age 99, passed away with her family by her side at Candlestone Assisted Living in Midland, MI on Friday, February 3, 2017. She was born on December 10, 1917, in Linwood, MI, to the late Fredrick and Josephine (Stark) DeLong. Eva married the late Raymond Filcek on May 26, 1951, and later married the late Claud Ross on December 12, 1964. Eva retired from Prestolite in Bay City, MI. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially if there was a game of cards involved. Eva was a 4H leader for over 25 years, teaching numerous children the art of knitting that she enjoyed. Family and friends will miss the special cookies that were always available at Eva’s home whenever they visited.

Surviving her are her children Rodney (Patrice) Filcek, Cindy (Daniel) Shannon, and Joan Rill; grandchildren Kensey (Andre) Filcek, Brett Filcek, Jalynn Filcek, Kathryn (Spencer) Johnson, and Brian (Kristy) Shannon; great grandchildren Amani, Avyana, Kobe, Jack, Cooper, and Eloise; her sister Beatrice Christensen and a sister-in-law Dorothy DeLong. She was predeceased by a sister Charilla, brothers Elmer, Lawrence, Alvin, and Allen, and her son-in-law James Rill.

The family would like to especially thank Beatrice Christensen and her family for all their support the past several years and the staff and caregivers at Candlestone Assisted Living in Midland, MI.

Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at 11 am, from Prince of Peace – St Anne Campus with Rev. Fr. Nicholas F. Coffaro and Deacon Michael Arnold presiding. Friends may call at Rivertown Funeral Chapel in Kawkawlin, MI, on Wednesday from 2 pm until 8 pm. A Vigil service will be held 7 pm on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, Eva will lie in state at the church from 10 am until time of service.
