Brenda Lee Rhodes, 65, of Whitewater passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born November 5, 1951, in Anna, Illinois, daughter of Kenneth and Margie Coomer Ledermann. She and Lawrence “Mike” Rhodes were married July 18, 1970. He survives.

Brenda graduated from Meadow Heights High School in 1969. She worked as the housekeeping supervisor at the Lutheran Home for 14 years until she became disabled. Brenda was a member of and song leader of Bethlehem General Baptist Church in Crump for over 30 years. Brenda enjoyed her flowers, gardening, hummingbirds, and nature. She also cared for children in her home for a number of years. Brenda was a loving wife and mother; her grandchildren were the light of her life and she shared a special love towards them. Brenda was a breast cancer survivor.

Loving survivors include her husband of 46 years; two sons, Allen (Ashley) Rhodes of Gordonville and Tim (fiancé’, Jamie Crow) Rhodes of Sikeston; six grandchildren, Hailee, T.J., Alex, Aiden, Adelyn, and Aleena; a twin sister, Linda (Jack) Robins of Marble Hill; two brothers, Buddy (Lilly) Ledermann of Scott City and Kenneth (Nancy) Ledermann of Illinois; sister, Sue (Gene) Wilson of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dean Ledermann; and a sister, Margie Eggemeyer.

Friends may call Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 from 11 am until service time at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at 2 pm, at the funeral home, with the Rev’s Joe Allen and Lucas Clabough officiating.

Interment will follow in Stroderville Cemetery near Whitewater.
