Jayne, the daughter of Ervin "Dutch" and Dorothy (Steiner) Kruse, was born February 17,1954, in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on a farm near Royal, Iowa, where she received her education at Clay Central High School. Following her graduation, she continued her education at South Dakota State University where she was an English major. She later transferred to the University of Iowa, where she graduated with a double major in English and Education. She began her teaching career at Norfolk, NE, where she taught English for three years. She moved to Beloit, WI, where she continued teaching English for 30 years, until her retirement in 2009. During her career, she was active in the Teacher's Union, coached junior high track, the Pom Pom Squad, and officiated the Quiz Bowl.
Jayne married Craig Poulsen on July 25, 2009, in Spencer, After their marriage, they made their home in Spencer, where she was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, being outside, reading, cross stitching, cooking with Craig, baking and traveling.
She passed away peacefully at her home in Spencer, following a short bout with cancer on Saturday, January 7,2017.
