PFC Arthur Lee Dancy, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Pinetops, North Carolina.

Private First Class Arthur Lee Dancy, casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, PFC Dancy served our country until January 23rd, 1967 in Binh Duong, South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was not married. It was reported that Arthur died from drowning. His body was recovered. PFC Dancy is on panel 14E, line 071 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

Arthur was one of 17 children. He was a avid outdoorsman. He trapped, hunted & fished and he could live off of the land if he wanted. His Father Sam had a farm in Pinetops.

I Served with him: I was with Doc Dancy when he drowned while we were crossing a section of the river while on patrol. Another fellow drowned with Doc. We think that even though Doc could not swim very well, he was trying to save the fellow. Larry Wilkinson, landlw@att.net

He is the Son of Mr Sam Dancy and Mrs William Ann Dickens Dancy.

He served with Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, "Wolfhounds", 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning", USARV.

He earned the Combat Medical Badge(CMB), He was awarded The Soldiers Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal and The National Defense Service Medal.
