Born August 23, 1941 in Peoria to Roy L. and Virginia M. (Ruscher) Steele, he married Iris Stephens on June 9, 1962 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife of Pekin; one son, Keith Steele of Peoria; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two brothers, Wayne (Carol) Steele of Decatur and Terry (Kay) Steele of Homosassa, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Kim Bush on August 15, 2014 in Peoria.
Larry worked in the grocery industry his whole life, last working at Cub Foods in Peoria as a dairy manager, retiring in 2001.
A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Larry especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Larry was a former 30-year member and officer of the River City Street Rods Association and also enjoyed driving his 1936 Ford Truck for over 35 years.
His memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. W. Lloyd Brock will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, 8630 Illinois State Route 91, Peoria, IL 61615.
