Arlin did quite a bit of writing and was a contributor to the book called Bible Story Time, published by Wartburg Press in the 1950s. He also wrote devotions and articles on various subjects, many of which were published in various books, publications and newspapers. He is mentioned in Who's Who in the Midwest, 1974 and 1975, because of his work in nursing home administration. He was also named in Moore's WHO IS WHO in WISCONSIN in 1960, when he was pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Janesville, WI.
He served his God and his country from 1942 to the end of 1945 in New Guinea, Australia and the Philippines. He served parishes in Oconto Falls, Morgan, Spruce, Fairwater, Stratford, Janesville and Boscobel, Wisconsin. He enjoyed working with the elderly and was administrator of Lincoln Lutheran Home in Racine, WI and then at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, IA [both then were nursing homes but are now expanded to include assisted living and other services] until 1972 when he 'retired.' After that he became assistant pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon, WI for several years. He continued to fill in for vacationing pastors in the Ripon area until shortly before his death.
