Danville – Pansy Norma (Garrard) Devylder, 91, of Danville died at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 surround by family at her daughter’s home. Pansy was born September 21, 1925 to Arthur and Clista (Dunlap) Garrard. She first married Darrell McDowell. Later she married Charles Devylder. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Karen Sue (William) Shafer and Charla Lee (Finley “Jay) Johnson, both of Danville, and Ruth Ann Gibbs of Olney; eleven grandchildren, Tara Lee (James) Greene, Jessica (Blake) Carter, Chelsea Marie Shafer, Corey Wayne Shafer, Mandy Jinkins, and Michael Jinkins, all of Danville, Thomas (Aaron) Shafer, Jennifer (Sonny) Houseman of Oklahoma, Timothy Lee Gibbs, April Ann Gibbs, and Kenneth Ray Gibbs, all of Olney. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, niece, and nephew; and special friend David French of Danville.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her step-father, John E. Martin, brother Kenneth E. Martin, nephew Kenneth W. Martin, and grandchildren Michael Anthony Gibbs, and Toby Lee Gibbs.

Pansy attended Olney Schools, receiving her GED at the age of 60. She worked for several years for Danville Floral and National Home Health Care. Pansy was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and visiting. Most of all, Pansy enjoyed her family and her church.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, with services following to celebrate the life of Pansy Devylder held at 2 PM on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Pastor Zach LeCrone will officiate. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville.
