He was a veteran and served in the US Army. He was a corrections officer for 17 years and retired as a maintenance supervisor in 1983 from Clinton Correctional Facility.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Amell of Morrisonville; four sons, Gary, Patti, John and David (Marni); three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly (Edward) Dubray, Susan (Evan) Myers, and Jill (Terry) Lagree; a foster daughter, Betty (Norman) Baker; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard (Shirley) Amell, Armand (Betty) Amell and Arnold (Joan) Amell; 14 grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his sister, Winifred and her husband, Stanley Petrashune.
