Wilma Bell Dobson, 88, formerly a 45 year resident of Highlands, passed away, July 17, 2001, in Fort Worth, after a sudden illness. Born February 2, 1913 in Floyd Springs, Ga., to Marcus and Mae Burns. She was of the Baptist faith.

Wilma moved to Fort Worth, December of 1978. While a Highlands resident, Wilma excelled in gardening and cooking, especially pie baking. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Chandler Dobson, killed in an explosion at the former Humble Oil and Refining, Co., Baytown in January 1948. From that time she single handley raised two sons in difficult times.

Wilma is survived by those two sons, Wayman "Bull" Dobson and wife, Mary Helen of Highlands; Bobby Ray Dobson and wife, Jane of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, Rob Dobson and wife Rosa of Highlands; Brenda Nettle and husband Steve of Austin; Connie Dobson of Humble; Julie Pittman and husband James of Haltom City; Joel Dobson and wife Holly of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Jana Gateley and husband Patrick of Dallas; eight great-grandchildren, Racquel, Jared, Mary Tyler, Garrett, Jace, Kolton, Konner and Bennett.

Graveside services were performed, Thursday, July 19, 2001 at Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth, with Dr. Carroll Marr, Southcliff Baptist Church officiating.
