Carl Marcelles Byrd, age 73, of Sweetwater, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at UT. Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was of the Baptist Faith, retired from the Insulators Union Local #46, he loved spending time with his grandson Seth on the family farm.
He never met a stranger, and everyone said he had the prettiest blue eyes.
Preceded in death by his son Jeffery Marcell Byrd, parents Hagan C. Byrd, and Lillian Byrd Rose, sisters Deloris Nipper McDaniel, Shirley Stephens.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Brenda Sue Alexander Byrd, of Sweetwater, sons and daughter-in-law: Scott and Lora Byrd, Steven Byrd, grandsons Seth Cameron Byrd, all of Sweetwater, Kadon Byrd, of Athens, brother and sister-in-law: Harry and Pat Byrd, of Sweetwater, sisters and brother-in-law Margaret McKee, of Madisonville, Evelyn “Butchie” and Henry Gibby, of Sweetwater, several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 3, 2017, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in Kyker’s Chapel with Rev. Doug Alexander officiating.
