Rachel Doiron, 94, of Sanford passed away on Wednesday February 1, 2017 at the Lodges in Springvale. She was born in Springvale on October 1, 1922 a daughter of the late Arthur and Yvonne (Letourneau) Fontaine.

She was a graduate of Sanford High School and a lifelong communicant of the St. Therese of Lisieux Parish. For many years she was employed by the former Sears and Roebuck store in Sanford. After the closing of the store she then went on to work as a secretary for a couple of dental practices in town. After retirement she enjoyed volunteering her time at the Sanford Food Pantry. This is something she continued doing until just over a year ago doing correspondence from her home. An avid reader, enjoyed cooking and was a huge fan of the Red Sox and Celtics.

She is predeceased by her husband, George "Choc" Doiron, her sister, Viola Moreau.

She is survived by her children, Janet Patterson of Sanford, Joanne Lane and her husband, Jeffrey of Sanford, John Doiron and his wife, Debra of Concord, NH, James Doiron of Wells, sisters, Aline Fortier and her husband, Raymond of Springvale, Connie Smith Reyes and her husband, Lupe of Kirkland, Washington, grandchildren, Jonathan Patterson, Garret Patterson, Katie Swanson, Ryan Lane, Stephanie Doiron and one great granddaughter, Alexis Perrin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 11th at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford. Burial will be in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemeterey.

Arrangments are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
