Michele M. “Shelly” (Cantin) James left us January 30, 2017 at Olson Manor Adult Foster Care Home. The daughter of the late Alfred and Alice Marie (Lynn) Cantin was born May 15, 1949 in Monterey, CA. Michele married Robert R. James in June of 1965, then again in October of 2016.

Michele received an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She was a Public Safety Officer for General Motors and St. Mary’s Hospital of Saginaw before being employed by Dow Corning.

After retiring from Dow Corning, she was the founder of Shelly’s Bed and Biscuit, a dog daycare facility that she ran for over 18 years and was co-owner at the time of her death. Michele also bred and showed her beloved Norfolk Terriers for more than 25 years.

“Aunt Midge” as her family called her, is survived by her brother Lemond Cantin and his daughters Holly M. Cerny, Heather R. Shawl, and Stacy L. March.

In addition to her parents, Michele was preceded in death by her son Russell R. “Rusty” James in 1976.

Memorial services for Michele will take place at 4 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
