Ms. Bowen, age 91, passed away in Daytona Beach, Florida.
She was the daughter of the late William and Agnes (McLaughlin) Feeney.
She grew up in Washington Heights, Manhattan. She started her career with the telephone company and enjoyed going to dances, roller skating, the theater and movies.
She met her husband in 1950 and married in 1952, they lived in Riverdale until 1956 when they moved to Albany. They bought their first house in Colonie a year later. They were active in Midway Fire Department while raising six children.
In 1968 the family moved to Fairfax, Virginia where she continued her career with the Alexandria School Board until 1987. She was active in her children's sporting events and volunteer work as well.
She retired to Chestertown, New York in 1987 where she was involved with the Friends Lake community, American Legion Post no. 964 and senior groups. She enjoyed playing cards, theater, Saratoga Race Track and cruising.
Her greatest joy was having her grandchildren and great grandchildren spend the summer with her where they learned to fish and swim. She spent her winters in Daytona Beach, Florida where she had a close group of friends.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by her husband John Arthur Bowen, Jr. Aug. 10, 1995, one son John Arthur (Jackie) Bowen, III June 1, 2008, one grandson Joseph John Suver Dec. 5, 2016, two brothers William Bill Feeney, Alfred Feeney, one sister Delores Halliwell one daughter-in-law Carolyn Suddad.
Survivors include four daughters, one son, one brother, 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many cousins and extended family across the world.
Services were held at the Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Pine Street, Chestertown. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. John the Baptist/St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church Chestertown with Reverend John O'Kane Pastor officiating.
