Flora was the daughter of Millard and Nannette(Neely) Hyden but was raised by her grandmother. She married William(Bill) Bray Dec. 22, 1919 by J. C. Barber possibly a relative of the groom.

Lived in IN most of her adult life. Retired to FL & KY. Late in their retirement they moved permently back to KY where their family roots were and lived there til husband's death then grandma moved to Orlando FL to be near her family and the warm sunny days.

Grandma spent her life being a housewife and homemaker. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a great cook as most southern women were.

Grandma was a "born again Christian" attending.. Baptist and Nazarene churches. She loved reading her bible, novels and lots of self help books....This was before Dr. Phil so she found her own way to work thru life's issues. She never learned how to drive a car and would walk to the library several blocks from home into her 80's. She kept up on current events and was never a bore to talk to.

She had 7 children many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her very much. She loved each one of them and was very proud of them. We were so blessed to have had a grandmother like her.

Her hair remained almost black til she died, and her skin was as beautiful as a much younger person. She had the typical concerns as mothers do but it certainly did not show in her beautiful face.

Grandma taught me many homemaking skills during the summer school breaks. Lots of times she would have other grandchildren come and spend days with us too. We lived in the country and I can remember her telling us to go out and run..probably wanting us to get rid of all that energy. There were no TVs then but we always took time to listen to "Stella Dallas", "The Shadow" "Fibber McGee and Molly" and the "Charlie McCarthy" shows on the radio.

She was survived by one son, Herbert H. Bray, Merritt Island FL, two daughters, Dovey(Lois)Bray Young, Orlando FL, and Geneva Bray (Woodall) Bowen, Franklin, IN.

Flora was prededed in death by her parents; husband, William E. Bray; four sons, Harold, Jackie, Harlan, & Tom Bray.

Services were conducted at the Pulaski Funeral Home, Somerset, Ky. Burial beside her beloved husband in Somerset Cemetery.

She is missed and thought of so often by many who love her. We will never forget all the many kind things that she did for each one of us.

Info taken from my memories of my grandmother who had been a mother to me.

THANK YOU SHARON FOR POSTING THE FIRST PICTURES.

"Always a silent hurt, many a silent tear, but always a beautiful memory of one we loved so dear.

God gave us strength to bear it, and courage to take the blow, but what it meant to lose you...........no one will ever know." (Author unknown)
