Husband of Aletha Baugher and brother to Arnold Smith. Ernest was killed in a hunting accident.Ernest Andrew Smith, was accidentally killed by a shotgun charge last Thursday while feeding cattle about a mile from his house. He was found by a neighbor Bill Peacock. The accident is thought to have occurred when Mr. Smith was climbing over a fence.

Ernest Andrew Smith, son of Sally and John Smith was born January 27, 1899, near Peru, Kansas and departed this life Thursday morning, March 3, 1950 near his home northwest of Fall River, Kansas at the age of 51 years, one month and five days.

Ernest was the youngest of 10 children. His mother, father, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

On February 26, 1928, he was united in marriage to Aletha Baugher at Eureka. After their marriage they moved to their farm east of Climax, where they lived for several years. Later they moved to a neighboring farm where they lived for three years. At the time of his death they were living at the home of his death they were living at the home of Mrs. Smith's father.

Early Thursday morning Ernest met with an accident which caused his death. Ernest made many friends by his kindness and willingness. He was a kind and loving husband.

He is survived by his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Fred Greenwood of Severy and Mrs. O.A. Rice of Nowata, Oklahoma., three brothers Jarrett and Fletcher of Fall River and Arnold of Eureka; a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral service was held from the Baird Funeral Home Sunday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
